Welcome,
I've been working in the mental health field for close to 20 years. I hold both a Master of Science degree and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Mental Health Counseling. I am licensed in Massachusetts as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Early in my career, I focused my graduate training on special needs of the college population and young adults. I've worked in a number of college counseling centers, both as a research fellow and as a clinician. I've had years of specific training on adolescents and adults and the special needs of young musicians, artists and athletes. Additionally in the years to follow, trained and volunteered with BARCC (Boston Area Rape Crisis Center), worked in a community mental health center (with children, adolescents and adults) and spent years working for various eating disorder treatment centers (in all levels of care). I'm grateful for my vast experience in the field prior to opening my private practice.
Many times through my career, I've had clients ask, "Why did you become a therapist?" In short, I am very passionate about my work and care deeply for my clients. I am honored that I have the opportunity to support my clients through the many challenges of life. It is incredibly rewarding to help others heal, achieve goals and make long-lasting changes to their lives. My clients inspire me each and every day.
My clients and colleagues describe me as: warm, engaged, compassionate and insightful. I am both professional and authentic with my clients, interactive and directive, and use humor when appropriate. I believe the keys to a strong therapeutic relationship are based on trust, connection, mutual respect and care.
